N Days of Practice Season 1: Start

First day back from spring break! Here’s the spreadsheet tab for this first season.

Pieces & benchmark recordings: similar situations for all of these which is that I’ve “played through” them but they are not quite learned yet since I was focusing on other pieces (Beethoven x2) for the first part of this semester.

– Liszt, Vallée d’Obermann

– Del Tredici, Gymnopédie no. 1, “My Goldberg”

– Piazzolla, Café 1930

Pieces I am also working on but didn’t make benchmark recordings for because I have not learned more than 3 pages of them:

– Prokofiev, Sonata No. 3 in a minor

– Saint-Saëns, Piano Concerto no. 2

My current main goal musically is developing a better sense of touch/“colour.” Technically I’m working on octave scales (thanks Liszt!) and scales in thirds/sixths (thanks Saint-Saëns!) There isn’t really a deadline on anything except the Del Tredici piece (which I’m performing on 4/22) but I am hoping to finish the Liszt and Piazzolla pieces before the end of the semester (late May).
